ZENTRIATHLETE My Story

Who is Zentriathlete?  What is my Story?

Who Am I?  Why do I even have a blog?

Cache Valley, Utah resident. 46 years young.  "I Play Triathlon". I travel a lot for work and enjoy being in town with family.  I tend to wear Mizuno running shoes (Wave Creation models) and now enjoy the On (Cloudflow).  I enjoy family time, training, sleeping and being with my wife and children. I am a(n) husband, Father, Endurance Sports participant and enthusiast.  I participate and seek out other zany activities (Triathlon - Running, Cycling, Swimming, hiking, exploring, nutrition, resting/recovery - when I remember).  I strive to be healthy and fit enough to see each of my kids complete an endurance distance triathlon (70.3 or 140.6) should they choose to follow my lifestyle and passion.  I am an active temple-attending member of a faith-based community (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints).   I am a professional IT Principal Consultant (since June 2010) - 'be amazing' is my pseudo-title.  There is plenty more to me, but I feel this is a good starting point.

I think the transformation stories are well represented in the link above.  As for why or what I am blogging about, it's selfish really and mainly for me.  I was struggling with writing at work so I also took it up.  Really, the overall focus of this blog is my endurance sports journal.  I have completed multiple 70.3 Ironman branded events in St George and participated in many training events and races to prepare and be successful in completing the 70.3's.  I have been a simple participant, a podium finisher and volunteer at various events.  I have been both pleased and highly disappointed.  My mindset has changed significantly over the last few years.  First and foremost I have learned, I love my family and am dearly grateful to my wife who puts up with my shenanigans.  I have a great set of children as imperfect as we all are we collide together into our little family tribe.  We are nowhere near perfect, but at least the finish line hasn't come either.  I spend a lot of time observing people and situations in my professional endeavors and have been able to learn who I truly am compared to myself and others I encounter and engage with.  I'm grateful to the life I have and how I have gotten here and leverage experience and wisdom learned from many failures, mistakes and plenty of successes, too.

I tend to follow the community of Crushing Iron - it has truly helped me in a lot of ways well beyond this endurance sports hobby.  I am grateful to the efforts of these two gentlemen!

I became a part of the Team Zoot Ohana as an Ambassador - 2020!   This has been a great opportunity and the team ambassadors are some of the best-est humans I have had the privilege to meet as a human.

If you happen across my blog, leave a comment and let me know your thoughts, hope you may find something in my musings that will allow you to not make the same mistakes I have along the way.  All the best and Cheers!

Astrid keeps growing and is our Tasmanian Devil.  What she has been trying to learn to say comes out big in action and she is a lovable little whirlwind.  She keeps improving in her ability to speak and loves energy, high energy, the kind us adults struggle to keep up with!  Yes, we'll keep her!
